Sue Anne! You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 87, 2nd Art Show

Welp.  I feel great.  It only took a full day of rest after a full day of art show install at Estudio Nomada!  The night before the show, knowing that one piece alone would put 100 holes in the wall, I had hours of anxiety filled dreams.  In one I couldn’t breathe and in another […]

Sue Anne! You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 68, My Work

My work took an unexpected turn here in Barcelona and you know what?  I am totally ok with that.  It’s kind of exciting, really.  All the work I had planned to do I finished in Seville!  That left me with no plan for my two month residency in Torelles de Foix.  I bought some more […]

Sue Anne! You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 47, Mas els Igols

This is the residency in “Barcelona” where I currently reside.  It’s called Mas els Igols which means, “swamp farm.”  There’s no swamp to be seen, but it is most certainly a farm… of grapes… and wine.  It’s a vineyard!

Sue Anne! You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 42, My Art Show

Had a great show in Seville.  It was quick and dirty!  I only had three weeks in the AIRgentum Residency but I came prepared with the work I wanted to make.  Martina pulled several strings to make the show happen and my lovely residency mates helped me install the show with literally only 45 minutes.  […]

Sue Anne! You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 26, My Art

Jeez has it really been 26 days already?  That feels like a long time and I’m already desperately missing my cats, husband, and car. Working on the subject of privacy again.  This time it’s wearables.  Each piece is pretty different, so I don’t have the factory-like set up like I did for the previous body […]

Sue Anne, You’ve got some Spaining to do! Day 7, Reina Sofia

Now this!  This… is a museum I could spend some time in!  The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía houses art from the 20th century up to current work being made today. Here I saw Dali, Picasso’s Guernica (as mentioned in the previous post), more Goya, and I learned about a few new artists […]

Around the World in 80 Days: Day 77, More of My Art

My work took a strange turn when I got to the Obras Holland residency.  I landed on drawing the images of historic sculptures of Medusa because I liked the rage in her face and I was relating that to the way I feel about our privacy rights being whittled away.  I thought that’s what I […]

Around the World in 80 Days: Day 41, The Watanabes

Meet the Watanabes.  They are adorable.  Actually they are the epitome of adorable Japanese people.  I describe them as a 70 year old couple placed (not trapped) in late 20’s/early 30’s bodies.  They are super sweet and talented people and they are very active in the community.  I wish I could have had more time […]
